Training for specialists of Mother and Baby Units
2-6 June 2008 HHC Ukraine held a training for specialists of Mother and Baby Units. The training was held within project frames on "Implementation of training system for social workers who will work on prevention of babies abandonment" realized by HHC Ukraine in cooperation with Unicef and the state social service for family, chidlren and youth.
19 specialists of Mother and Baby Units from various oblasts of Ukraine participated in the training (Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Kherson, Luhansk, Kyiv, Khmelnytsk, Chernigiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Sumy oblasts and Sevastopol city). The trainers had been specifically trained to teach on prevention of babies abandonment.
Participants mentioned the high level of the organized event and expressed the necessity of such training at least once a year. As a result of the training participants:
- gained theoretical and practical skills and experience,
- understood conception of peculiar work with beneficiaries,
- exchanged their experience on solving of the urgent issues,
- gained knowledge regarding new forms and methods of work with women in Mother and Baby Units.

Big family celebration for 65 family type homes from 13 oblasts of Ukraine
Participants of the conference developed a Resolution based on the results of the workshops and plenary sessions. The Resolution will be sent to relevant central executive bodies. The document contains developed proposals and recommendations regarding improvement of reforming of state institutions, complex approach to deinstitutionalisation implementation and development of new directions of the state social policy.
